The total value of the video game market adds up to $65B.
The total value of the British video game industry adds up to £2B.
8/10 homes own a next gen console (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii).
The most popular games console of all time is the PS2 with 153.5m sales.
The current sales percentages for the 7th gen consoles are:
·      Wii – 89.36million
·      Xbox 360 – 57.6million
·      PS3 – 55.5million
Relationship between gender and games consoles:
·      80% of females have a Wii
·      11% of females have an Xbox 360
·      9% of females have a PS3
This shows clearly that females tend to play the Nintendo Wii as ‘casual’ gamers and that males prefer the Xbox 360 and PS3 as more ‘hard-core’ gamers.
The 5 most successful games of all time:
1.    Wii sports, packaged with the Wii – 41million sales
2.    Super Mario bros for the NES – 40million sales
3.    Pokémon red/blue/yellow for the Gameboy – 32million sales
4.    Tetris for the Gameboy – 32million sales
5.    Duck hunt for the NES – 28million sales
